Last September, we took a trip to a local Texas favorite destination – Fredericksburg! It’s a small town right outside of San Antonio, full of cute boutiques, fine dining, and LOTS of wine. You may not know this, but Texas is one of the top 5 US destinations for producing wine. Crazy, right?!
We wanted to share a few of the highlights and vineyards from the trip that you must plan a trip to. Let the vineyard tours commence!
Grape Creek
If there’s one thing to invest in during your time in Fredericksburg, it’s the wine tour at Grape Creek. You begin the tour in the middle of the vineyard to view the grapes, move into the fermentation tank area, and then, the best part, the barrel room. In the barrel room, you drink wine straight from the barrel. Seriously, no better wine than tasting it straight from the barrel itself! After the tour, you have a private tasting with the group. Grape Creek is the perfect way to start your day of vino.
Becker
Next up, a very well known winery – Becker Vineyards! If the wine isn’t enough, Becker has the most beautiful September flowers the make drinking wine even that much more enjoyable. At each vineyard, you’re able to choose which pallet to try – sweet or dry. The Pals tend to err toward the dry side of tastings, and that’s exactly what we did here. We all tried our only Port wine of the day, and it was very… interesting. Definitely requires a special taste! Another unique part of Becker was the grape stomping in the barrels. You could take your shoes off and stomp in the grapes as long as your heart desires. How fun!
Fat Ass
A must-go-to simply because of the name, Fat Ass, was a stop that was different than all of the others. It’s hopping atmosphere and live music completely changed the feel of the entire space. We even got up to dance and show off some moves! Our dancin’ was on point, thanks to all of our previous wine stops. After your wine tasting, be sure to grab their famous frozen wine slushie to wash everything down.
Book your trip!
When you book your trip to Fredericksburg, make sure you keep these 3 wonderful vineyards on your list. They are fundamental stops on the 290 Fredericksburg wine tour, and we promise they won’t disappoint! Make sure you eat some breakfast… and enjoy the day!
Peace and Pinot,
The Perfectly Paired Pals
